Jimenez's ankle injury slow to mend

ANAHEIM -- Ubaldo Jimenez is progressing slowly from a right ankle injury and manager Buck Showalter said Tuesday there's a possibility Jimenez goes back to Baltimore or is sent to the team's spring facility in Sarasota, Fla.

"It's getting a little better each day, but it's been quite a while," Showalter said of Jimenez, whose DL stay started on July 8.

Jimenez is slated to throw his second bullpen session on Wednesday, with the team opting to give him an extra day. He was favoring his ankle too much in his last 'pen session to go out on a rehab assignment and the hope is he'll do much better in his next throwing session.

"Let's get through Wednesday and we will all sit back and step back and say what's the [plan]," Showalter said. "It may be he continues with us to Seattle. I'm hoping he gets a little better."
