BALTIMORE -- As both teams prepared to shake hands and the 17,403 fans at Oriole Park at Camden Yards streamed to the exits, Blue Jays manager John Gibbons wasn't giving up on the game.

His team appeared to have lost to the O's, 4-2, after a double play in the top of the ninth inning, but Gibbons decided he might as well challenge the call.

"It doesn't look good for baseball," Gibbons said, "but you need to check and see what you come up with."

The review was relatively quick, clocking in at just one minute, 20 seconds, and it confirmed what first-base umpire Mike DiMuro initially called: Orioles second baseman Jonathan Schoop's throw arrived in Chris Davis' glove a split second before Toronto outfielder Darin Mastroianni stepped on the bag.

The challenge was Gibbons' 20th of the year. He has won six of them.
