CLEVELAND -- The Orioles can ill afford to lose another outfielder, but after Friday night, that may be the case.
Felix Pie went down with a leg injury in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Indians. The team has just three healthy outfielders remaining.
Manager Dave Trembley said Pie has a strained left quad. and is day-to-day pending a reevaluation on Saturday. With just nine games remaining, Pie's season is in question.
"That's tough," Pie said. "I'm in a lot of pain. I want to finish strong."
Pie had extended his hitting streak to four games with two hits before coming to the plate with one on in the seventh. He hit a sharp grounder to shortstop and was just called out at first to complete a double play.
He came up lame just before the bag and then laid on the ground in short right field on the first-base line holding his left leg while in clear pain. He was down for several minutes before he was finally helped off the field.
Pie missed a few games earlier this month, but that was due to an unrelated back problem. He was hitting .266 with nine homers and 29 RBIs going into Friday's game.
