BALTIMORE -- One down, one to go?

The Orioles announced Monday night that they've signed Delmon Young to a Minor League contract with an invitation to Spring Training, the first of two players they plan on having at this week's minicamp.

The O's are also interested in signing Jack Cust to a similar deal to Young's.

Young spent time with the Phillies and Rays last season, hitting .260/.307/.407 in 361 plate appearances. The 28-year-old has hit lefties well over his career, posting a .303/.341/.471 line, and he would primarily be a part-time candidate at designated hitter.

Cust, who will turn 35 later this week, last played in the Majors in 2011 and batted .213/.344/.329 with the Mariners. He spent 2012 in Triple-A, with both the Blue Jays and Yankees organizations, and did not play last season. Cust is best known for his time with the A's, when he hit .247/.381/.457 over four seasons.

Baltimore now has nine outfielders, including non-roster invitee Quintin Berry, and is expected to have a platoon in left field this season. David Lough is likely one half of that.
