CLEVELAND -- Orioles reliever T.J. McFarland tossed two scoreless innings on Tuesday against the Indians, his former organization, after the lefty was selected in the Rule 5 Draft by Baltimore this winter.

"[I had a] little extra something," McFarland said of the outing, which manager Buck Showalter remarked was the sharpest McFarland has been all season. "Especially because I played with most of those guys I faced in the lineup. [Lonnie] Chisenhall, I didn't face him, but [Jason] Kipnis, some of the pitchers we faced [on Tuesday]. Some history there. I enjoyed that outing for sure."

McFarland, who was left off Cleveland's 40-man roster and picked up by Baltimore at the Winter Meetings, said he has "nothing vindictive" going against the Indians, as everything has worked out.

"To think that I would be in this position at this time last year, would be kind of a far-fetched idea," McFarland said. "But things happen and fortunately for me, here I am."

McFarland, 24, has pitched in 31 games for the Orioles this season and posted a 4.39 ERA. He has thrown 66 2/3 innings and allowed 36 earned runs on 74 hits and 21 walks with 52 strikeouts.
