Orioles to host Baltimore city youth baseball and softball clinic on Saturday

On Saturday, June 29 at Radecke Park from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., the Orioles will partner with the Coppin State University women's softball team to conduct their annual Baltimore City youth baseball and softball clinic. ADAM JONES and J.J. HARDY will be on hand to help teach baseball and softball to 300 inner city youth, most of whom are involved in the Orioles RBI program, with support from the Orioles Wives and Coppin State University softball coaches. In addition to receiving baseball and softball training, each child will enjoy refreshments provided by ESSKAY and Coca-Cola. The Orioles will also donate 600 tickets to clinic participants for a future Orioles game. This event is open to media coverage.

KURT BUSCH FIRST PITCH FOR PTSD AWARENESS
On Tuesday, June 25, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver KURT BUSCH will throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the Orioles' game against the Cleveland Indians. Busch, the 2004 Sprint Cup Series champion, has earned 24 career victories, 88 top-five and 174 top-10 finishes. He also serves as a spokesman for the Armed Forces Foundation (AFF) and will appear at Oriole Park as part of the AFF's campaign to raise awareness about Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury and military suicide prevention efforts. June is National PTSD Awareness month. The Orioles, as part of their Military Appreciation Program, have donated a suite for that night's game for 10 soldiers currently receiving treatment at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda. Busch will watch the game with the soldiers from the suite.     
 
SHOW YOUR SOFT SIDE CAMPAIGN
On Thursday, June 27, the Orioles will recognize the Soft Side Team from the Show Your Soft Side campaign, which was established to combat the alarming incidence of animal abuse in Baltimore. ADAM JONES and MATT WIETERS are spokesmen for the campaign, and BUCK SHOWALTER and NATE MCLOUTH will officially join them as spokesmen in a pre-game ceremony in which they will receive Soft Side Team jerseys. The jerseys will be signed and raffled off at the Community Booth at Gate D. Other members of the Soft Side Team to be recognized include former Ravens wide receiver and Super Bowl XXXV champion QADRY ISMAIL and General Manager of Baltimore Arena FRANK REMESCH.

"VOTE ORANGE" RALLIES
This week, the Orioles will hold three "Vote Orange" rallies to promote voting for the MLB All-Star Game. On Tuesday, June 25, the Vote Orange Street Team and The Oriole Bird will appear from 11:00 a.m. to noon at Modell's Sporting Goods in Parkville with NATE MCLOUTH. Later that afternoon, the Orioles will take part in a second event, presented by Downtown Partnership, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Orioles Fan Zone at the corner of Pratt and Light Streets. And the Orioles have just announced that on Thursday, June 27, from 2:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m., Dempsey's Brew Pub and Restaurant will host a third Vote Orange rally complete with food and drink specials and trivia hosted by Oriole Park Public Address Announcer, Ryan Wagner. At each of the rallies the Vote Orange Street Team and The Oriole Bird will give away game tickets, Vote Orange gear and other promotional items to reward fans who #VoteOrange. UNDER ARMOUR FREEDOM DAY
On Tuesday, June 25 TOMMY HUNTER will participate in a workout with alumni from the Wounded Warrior Project at Under Armour Headquarters, 1020 Hull Street, as part of Under Armour Freedom Day, a recognition of the dedication of the men and women who serve in our armed forces. CHRIS DAVIS TO VISIT CHRISTIAN YOUTH ATHLETICS
On Saturday, June 29, CHRIS DAVIS will visit with children from the Christian Youth Athletics program from 11:00 a.m. to noon. Davis will speak to the children and will then serve as the designated pitcher for the league's opening game. This event is not open to media coverage or to the public.

PLAY CLINIC
On Wednesday, June 26 at 11:00 a.m., ADAM JONES and members of the Orioles training staff, in conjunction with the PLAY Campaign, will welcome 75 youth from the Boys and Girls Club of Metropolitan Baltimore to Oriole Park. PLAY, which stands for Promoting a Lifetime of Activity for Youth, is a public awareness campaign of the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society (PBATS), in conjunction with the Taylor Hooton Foundation. The PLAY campaign combats childhood obesity and promotes healthy living and decision-making among young people throughout the country. Jones will speak to the youth about making smart life choices, avoiding drugs and living a more active and healthy lifestyle. This event is part of Jones' continued involvement in the Boys and Girls Clubs of Baltimore. A Boys and Girls Clubs alumnus himself, Jones and OriolesREACH donated $75,000 for renovation of a Technology and Learning Center at the Brooklyn O'Malley Boys and Girls Club in Baltimore earlier this month. The Orioles will also provide PLAY clinic participants with 150 tickets to attend the Orioles' game against the Cleveland Indians that night. This event is open to media coverage.
 
SKIN CANCER SCREENING
On Thursday, June 27, the American Dermatology Association will provide a free skin cancer screening for Orioles players, coaches and staff. For 15 years the American Academy of Dermatology and Major League Baseball have teamed up to educate the public on the dangers of sun exposure and to bring awareness to skin cancer prevention and detection. MLB encourages fans to always remember to apply sunscreen, wear sunglasses and put on an Orioles cap. Thursday's screening event is not open to the public.
 
ORIOLES TO HOST 29th ANNUAL BUDDIES NIGHT
On Thursday, June 27, the Orioles will host the 29th annual Buddies Night. Buddies is a group consisting of Baltimore Police and local businessmen and women who raise money for inner city youth programs for the Baltimore Police Department. Approximately 4,000 people associated with the group will attend the game against the Cleveland Indians, and the group will participate in a pre-game check presentation and ceremony.
 
PINCH HIT AND RUN TOURNAMENT
On Saturday, June 29 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., the Orioles will host the Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run Tournament at Oriole Park. The top 16 qualifiers from Maryland and Virginia will compete in hopes of advancing to the National Finals at the 2013 Major League Baseball All-Star Game in New York. Later in the day, the participants will be honored in an on-field pre-game ceremony. The Orioles will also provide tickets to those participating in the tournament for that night's game against the New York Yankees. This event is open to the media.
 
GIANT FOOD HONORARY BAT KIDS
Once again, the Orioles have partnered with Giant Food stores this summer to host the Giant Honorary Bat Kids program. Children ages 6-14 can enter by filling out an entry form at select Giant Food stores and submitting in the entry box in the store or mailing the form directly to the Baltimore Orioles. This program will take place through August 30. One boy and one girl will be selected to be the Honorary Bat Kids at each Orioles game, excluding Sundays. Winners will receive four tickets to the game, on-field access to watch Orioles batting practice and the opportunity to receive autographs and an Orioles t-shirt and hat. Each winner will also participate in an on-field, pre-game ceremony in which they will be presented with an official Honorary Bat Boy/Girl certificate and have a photo opportunity with the Oriole Bird.
 
ORIOLES MILITARY APPRECIATION PROGRAM
As part of the Orioles' Military Appreciation Program, sponsored by GEICO, the Orioles and OriolesREACH donate a catered private suite at each Sunday home game at Oriole Park to servicemen and women. This Sunday, June 30, military members from WOUNDED WARRIORS will enjoy the game vs. the New York Yankees from a catered suite, have an opportunity for a meet and greet with TOMMY HUNTER and CHRIS TILLMAN and receive an Under Armour player t-shirt.
 
STEAL SECOND BASE PRESENTED BY ESSKAY
The Orioles will again feature the Steal Second Base contest for every Sunday home game this season. Presented by ESSKAY, the Steal Second Base contest allows a young fan to participate in a timed race from the grounds crew area in center field to retrieve second base. Fans can sign up for the opportunity at the ballpark at any Fan Assistance Center. The lucky winner will receive four tickets to that day's game, gift certificates to use inside the park, an Orioles jersey and an Orioles prize pack. This year, the contestants will also get to keep the authentic base that they steal. This Sunday's winner is Liam O'Connor, a 6-year old from Gambrills, MD.
 
ORIOLES REACH COMMUNITY BOOTH
During each home game the Orioles provide a community booth for charitable, non-profit organizations to distribute information, sell raffle tickets, register participants or conduct health care screenings for Orioles fans. ORIOLES REACH GAMEDAY EXPERIENCE PROGRAM
This season, OriolesREACH will again host thousands of underprivileged youth as part of the Gameday Experience Program. Group members receive game tickets, concessions vouchers, an Orioles t-shirt, a cap and transportation to and from the game. The program is supported by the following players: WILSON BETEMIT, ALEXI CASILLA, WEI-YIN CHEN, CHRIS DAVIS, JASON HAMMEL, J.J. HARDY, TOMMY HUNTER, ADAM JONES, BRIAN MATUSZ, NICK MARKAKIS, NATE McLOUTH, CHRIS TILLMAN, TSUYOSHI WADA and MATT WIETERS.
