Instead of Gonzalez, Hammel to start Thursday

Right-hander Jason Hammel will start Thursday's series finale against the Astros, five days after he was ejected after throwing only 63 pitches in three-plus innings.

Hammel, who will be on regular rest following Monday's off-day, will start in place of right-hander Miguel Gonzalez.

Hammel was ejected in the fourth inning of Saturday's game against the Tigers after hitting Detroit's Matt Tuiasosopo following three straight homers to Victor Martinez, Jhonny Peralta and Alex Avila.

The righty hit Tuiasosopo in the helmet on his first pitch following Avila's homer and was immediately ejected.
