Not only that, it was McCrory's 27th birthday on Sunday.
"He has pitched multiple innings down there four different times," Trembley said. "He was the guy who was the choice, the consensus of everybody."McCrory will fill a similar role to that of Sarfate.
"I would say he's kind of like what Dennis was, a middle-innings guy who could be a one-inning guy late in the game," said Trembley.Pitching matchup
BAL: RHP Adam Eaton (1-3, 7.17 ERA)
Eaton has shown a tendency to run up high pitch counts early in starts, a trend that has knocked him out of the game early twice in four outings. Eaton managed to work six innings in his last start, though, and left with his team trailing by one run. The Orioles hope he can keep taking the ball every fifth day and provide a safety net for some of the team's prospects. TB: LHP Scott Kazmir (3-2, 5.40 ERA)
Kazmir's control has not been up to par in this young season. The trend continued at the Metrodome on Wednesday, when he was yanked after the fourth inning, having surrendered eight runs -- six earned -- on nine hits and four walks. Kazmir also threw two run-scoring wild pitches. That came 11 days after he gave up six earned runs on five hits and six walks in four innings against the White Sox. Kazmir has walked 16 batters in 26 2/3 innings. In 13 career starts against Baltimore, Kazmir is 5-3 with a 4.35 ERA. Tidbits
