KANSAS CITY -- Orioles manager Buck Showalter, who wasn't feeling well on Wednesday afternoon and underwent an examination, arrived at Kauffman Stadium in time for the first pitch against the Royals.
Showalter wasn't at the ballpark for his standard pregame media session three hours before the game. When Showalter expressed that he wasn't feeling well earlier in the day, trainer Richie Bancells suggested the manager get a precautionary checkup.
"I'm fine," Showalter said after the Orioles' 4-3 win over the Royals in 15 innings. "Richie was cautious and wanted to check it out."
Showalter, in his third season with Baltimore, has guided the Orioles to a 23-14 record entering Wednesday's game, which had Baltimore tied for first place in the American League East.
