Orioles prospect Ryan Adams took home Co-Player of the Week honors in the Arizona Fall League for the period that concluded Saturday. He went 6-for-12 with a homer and seven RBIs for Scottsdale and shares the honor with the Angels' Brandon Wood.
Adams is coming off his best season as a pro. Playing for Double-A Bowie, he set career highs with 15 homers, 68 RBIs and 158 hits. The 23-year-old infielder shared the Eastern League lead with 43 doubles and was named a postseason All-Star.
In five Minor League seasons, Adams owns a .287 batting average with 34 home runs and 184 RBIs. He was the Orioles' second-round (58th overall) selection in the 2006 Draft.
Another Orioles prospect is hoping for some accolades. Bowie closer Pedro Beato was nominated by MiLB.com as one of the best relievers in Double-A this year. Beato went 4-0 with a 2.11 ERA and 16 saves in 43 appearances.
The right-hander was the O's first-round pick in the 2006 Draft, and whether he takes home the MiLBY award is up to fans, who will determine each winner. Voting is taking place now for Beato at www.baysox.com and will continue through Monday.
