Tatum's MRI shows no damage

BALTIMORE -- Backup catcher Craig Tatum experienced some soreness in his right knee during Sunday's game against the Rays, but fortunately Tuesday's MRI showed no damage.

Tatum, who took the team's regularly scheduled batting practice prior to Tuesday's game, said he wasn't worried about his knee and was planning on playing regardless.

"I don't want to miss anymore time," he said, prior to the MRI results. "No matter what it was, I think I could play through it."

Orioles manager Buck Showalter thinks that Tatum would avoid the disabled list, and given the encouraging test results, it figures to be a minor injury. Tatum said he had never experienced the knee soreness before Sunday, but played with it the entire game so he wasn't worried about it hampering his performance.
