Dustin Hughes #86

Hughes enters his first season as bullpen catcher for the Orioles and his 12th season in professional baseball. Prior to joining the Orioles, he spent four seasons as bullpen catcher for the Cincinnati Reds. Hughes served seven seasons (2008-14) as bullpen catcher and batting practice pitcher for the Oakland Athletics' Triple-A affiliate in Sacramento. In 2012, he spent a week with the A's Major League club performing those duties. From 2009-10, Hughes was the freshman baseball coach at San Ramon Valley High School in Danville, Calif. He also coached the Danville Hoots of the Connie Mack Fall Baseball Program from 2011-13.

The former catcher played baseball at Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill, Calif. and Los Medanos College in Pittsburg, Calif. He also attended Sacramento City College and was selected by the Florida Marlins in the 2002 First-Year Player Draft out of Northgate High School in Walnut Creek, Calif., but did not sign. Hughes played in the Western Canadian Baseball League from 2006-07.

Hughes has worked as a trainer for professional baseball players during the offseason since 2011. He and his wife, Alex, reside in Sacramento, Calif., with their son, Declan, and daughter, Finley.
