COACHING CAREER

Enters his sixth year on the Orioles Major League coaching staff and his 11th year in the organization...Assists in all aspects of Orioles coaching...Previously served as the Orioles Assistant Hitting Coach from 2013-15...After starting his coaching career in 2008 as a Field Coach with the Gulf Coast League Orioles and Aberdeen IronBirds, Díaz managed the Rookie-level Bluefield Orioles in 2009 and 2010, compiling an overall record of 56-80 over two seasons...He served as a Field Coach for Double-A Bowie in 2011 and with Class-A Delmarva in 2012 before being added to the Major League staff prior to the 2013 season...Following the 2016 season, he served as a coach with Gigantes del Cibao of the Dominican Winter League.

PLAYING CAREER

Played in 673 games over 11 Major League seasons for the Indians, Dodgers, Rangers, Expos, and Cardinals…Batted .254 (523-for-2061) with 21 home runs and 202 RBI in the Major Leagues…Member of Cleveland's roster for the ALDS in 1998, 1999, and 2001, as well as the ALCS roster in 1998, and was on St. Louis' roster for the NLDS in 2005...Had a career-high five hits May 5, 2000 at Toronto…Made his Major League debut on September 9, 1996 against California and recorded his first Major League hit, a double off Tim Belcher on September 19, 1997 at Kansas City…Hit his first home run September 9, 1998 at Toronto off Woody Williams…Named to Baseball Digest's 1999 Major League Rookie All-Star Team…Named a South Atlantic League All-Star in 1994 and a 1998 International League All-Star.
